The Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Srpska, Đorđe Popović, discussed today in Banja Luka with representatives of the Republic of Srpska Attorney's Office, the Republic Administration for Geodetic and Property Affairs and the Public Enterprise "Motorways of the Republic of Srpska" about the construction of the motorway on the Corridor Vc through the Republic of Srpska and the expropriation of land required for this section.
The construction of the motorway on the Corridor Vc, which passes through the Republic of Srpska from Doboj to Vukosavlje, is planned in four stages, and the value of this project is estimated at more than 500 million euros without the costs of real property expropriation and the VAT.
Construction of the first stage - the section from the Intersection Johovac (Tovira) to the Intersection Rudanka (Kostajnica), with a total length of about 6 kilometers was started in June 2019. The value of this project is 70 million euros, and we are talking about the funds secured by a loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the grant-funding through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) in the amount of 12 million euros, and the implementation of this project is proceeding as planned.
When it comes to the construction of the second stage, i.e. the construction of the seven-kilometer motorway on the Corridor Vc that passes through the Republic of Srpska from Rudanka to the entity border/Putnikovo Brdo, BiH has signed an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to secure the loan funding in the amount of 150 million euros, and the WBIF grant in the amount of 30 million euros has been approved. Procedures related to resolving property-rights situation on this section have been initiated.
Construction of the two remaining stages at this section is planned for the oncoming period - the stage three from Intersection Johovac to Intersection Podnovlje with total length of about 13 kilometers, and the stage four from Vukosavlje to Intersection Podnovlje with total length of about 23 kilometers, as well as the construction of the motorway section from Vukosavlje to Brčko in the length of 31 kilometer and the section Brčko - Bijeljina - Rača in the length of 37 kilometers, as well as the motorway Banja Luka - Prijedor in the length of 42 kilometers.
Conclusion was made at the meeting that in the oncoming period the Republic of Srpska expects the construction of more than 140 kilometers of motorways, and that timely and high-quality preparation is necessary, which among other things also implies strengthening the capacities of stakeholders, in order to avoid delays in the implementation of projects due to administrative or legal procedures.
Commitment of all bodies involved has once again been reconfirmed to dedicating all the necessary capacities to the service of implementing these projects, and the conclusions were adopted, practical application of which the processes of land expropriation for the sections of motorway from Doboj to Vukosavlje and from Vukosavlje to Rača will be timely and efficiently implemented.
