Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Radovan
Višković attended the celebration on the occasion of the Day of the Republic of
Srpska in Brčko today.
Prime Minister Višković together with the President of
the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik laid wreath at the Monument to the Serbian
Defenders of Brčko and attended the official recital and the concert on this
occasion in the Cultural Centre in Brčko.
"Today, the Republic of Srpska is celebrating the
Day of the Republic in Brčko District and is sending only messages of peace,
unity and tolerance", Prime Minister Višković said and added that Republic of Srpska has the right
to celebrate its birthday and was not doing that to provoke anyone.
"It is important to emphasize that the Republic of Srpska was
established on January 9, 1992, in peace. The first incidents that occurred in Bosnia
and Herzegovina are dated in April 1992, which means that Republic of Srpska had already
been declared for three months. Everything that someone else celebrates in
Bosnia and Herzegovina is related to the unfortunate events in the territory
of Bosnia and Herzegovina and we have the right to celebrate our date",
Prime Minister Višković pointed out.
He reiterated that Republic of Srpska was founded in
peace and was defended during the war with great sufferings and great
sacrifices.
"Even today, the attacks on Republic of Srpska do
not stop, but we keep telling everyone that we are not a disturbing factor. We do
not want unrest nor any conflicts. We send the messages of peace and invite
all who wish to say something related to this date, to sit down and discuss
things which do not seem to be clear about the birthday of Republic of Srpska" Prime
Minister Višković said.
Prime Minister Radovan Višković emphasized that the 9th
of January – the Day of the Republic of Srpska Day will be celebrated in the
future as well and that it was a pledge towards the victims and sacrifices
made for the defense of the Republic of Srpska.
